Property Typical ranges Fineness modulus of fine aggregate (defined in the following) 2.0 to 3.3 Nominal maximum size of coarse aggregate 9.5 to 37.5 mm (3/8 to 1-1/2 in.) Absorption 0.5 to 4% Bulk specific gravity (relative density) 2.30 to 2.90 Dry-rodded bulk density*of coarse aggregate 1280 to 1920 kg/m3.Crushed stone grade no. 1 is the largest size with diameters ranging from around 2 inches to 4 inches. As this grade contains larger pieces, it’s not suitable for shoveling and stones will need to be moved individually. See also Where Do Chiggers Live? Crushing characteristics of a recycled aggregate from waste concrete

1. Introduction Production of construction waste in Korea increases every year, and the recycling rate (98%) increases accordingly. Based on the information from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of Korea [12], 51 million tons of recycled aggregates were produced and 44 million tons were sold in 2012.However, concrete produced from coarse recycled aggregate and natural sand provide approximately the same flexural and tensile strength as concrete made from natural aggregate. The standard size of beams for flexural tests according to (BS 1881) is 150mm x 150mm x 700mm.Crushed Concrete Aggregates Properties and Uses of

The initial aggregate grading curve was indicated by the straight line of A–B because of the single-size aggregate between 9.5 mm and 13.2 mm. The crushed aggregate grading curve was presented by the curve of A–E–G–C. The total breakage A 0 was determined by the total area enclosed by A–E–G–C–B.The accuracy of each method depends on the particle sizes. Aggregate size varies from 0.15 to 25 mm for normal concrete. Image analysis covers the range 0.04–50 mm. Therefore, it is possible to analyze the aggregate size and shape characteristics using image analysis.Measurement of Aggregate Size and Shape Using Image Analysis

The ratios, b/c and c/b, were calculated for three different aggregate size ranges (25.4–19.1 mm, 19.1–12.7 mm and 12.7–9.5 mm) and for each product (obtained with the jaw crusher or with the impact crusher).Generally, aggregate shape is determined by calculating the ratio between the various dimensions of the particles length L, width W and thickness T of the smallest parallelepiped containing the particle and comparing them to a flatness or elongation limit. Most of these test methods are standardized and differ among countries.Experimental study of crushed aggregate shape ScienceDirect
