#1 Hi, Can anyone verify for me if this is normal behaviour? I'm using the Rockcrusher as a Loadbox. I'm running my Rockcrusher via XLR to my interface, and depending on the line out level, the tone varies a lot. Rivera Rock Crusher (non eq model) THD Hot Plate Two Notes Captor X Mesa Cab Clone Fryette PS100 I’m partial to the power station and hot plate although the line out on the hot plate is a bit hot and does get a bit fuzzy on the -16ohm setting. Based on versatility, safety, and bang for the buck I’d say the PS is probably the best bet.Switch to the -20db or -16db and the tone comes to its full glory, but at manageable volume levels. These are my 2 favorite positions and have had no complaints about volume from anyone in my house. The -12db starts to get a bit too loud for comfort. I always use an EQ anyway, even with a miced amp (HP/LP filters, cut a bit at 1k, boost a little bit at 200-400 and 3-6k). I have an original '69 SL 100 and would never risk diming everything. I usually will bring it up to a little over half volume (which is still loud enough to crack all the windows in the house) through a Rivera Rock Crusher attenuator, and put a nice drive pedal in front of it. I use a Butler Tube Driver 4 knob and a TS808. Sweet, sweet, sweet.A Palmer PDI-03 is nearly $700, and it's just a load with speaker emulation. A Rock Crusher+Radial JDX would run you $700 as well. This isn't a big price increase at all, for what it does. It's also MIA, which is saying something, IMO.
