Groundwater resources in the East African Rift Valley:

Geologically the basin is characterized by crustaceous, jurassic, limestone, shales, alluvial deposits, precambrian gneiss, and schists [4]. The average rainfall in the Alluvial deposits are mainly seen in coastal delta regions and along river valleys. The coastal plain consists of largely unconsolidated sediments (beach sands, dunes and salt marsh), with some consolidated limestone deposits. Alluvium is found in river valleys. There are also volcano-pyroclastic sediments close to formerly active volcanoes.Hydrogeology of Tanzania MediaWiki British Geological Survey

Sources and Markets of Limestone Flour in Poland MDPI

There were 120 deposits of the total resource of 5549 million tons at the end of 2018 [ 13 ]. Limestone and related rock deposits for the cement industry are spread throughout the country, and occur, for example, in the Lublin (26%, mostly marl and chalk), Kielce (17%), Łódź (15%), Warszawa (12%), and other regions.yGold: The majority of the deposits are lode‐type associated with the Mwembeshi shear Zone. Gold mineralization occurs variously with copper and uranium in major thrust zones near the base of the Katanga Succession. yMore than 300 gold occurrences have been recorded, but mostly are only prospects.DATABASE OF MINERAL RESOURCES OF ZAMBIA

The Mandawa Basin of southern coastal Tanzania covers an area of c. 15,000 km 2 and is demarcated from the Rufiji Trough in the north by the E-W Utete-Tagalala Lineament, while the Ruvuma Saddle forms the southern border to the adjacent Ruvuma Basin (Fig. 1).The basin is separated from the Masasi Spur metamorphic Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed primarily of calcite, a calcium carbonate mineral with a chemical composition of CaCO 3. It usually forms in clear, calm, warm, shallow marine waters. Limestone is usually a biological sedimentary rock, forming from the accumulation of shell, coral, algal, fecal, and other organic debris.Limestone: Rock Uses, Formation, Composition, Pictures

The known titaniferous magnetite ore deposits in Tanzania are found at Liganga/Maganga Hills, Lugarawa, Mlangali in Ludewa District and at Kisaki in Morogoro District. They include coral limestone from raised beach deposits of Tertiary age and various types of limestone formations of Cretaceous to Jurassic age.Limestone and salt are produced in Kigoma region, in Kasulu/Uvinza and Uvinza districts, respectively. There, small groups of workers manipulate limestone layers and brines with very basic tools, predominantly for a more local and regional market9.
